A - Apple

Key Phrase: If I stay in Jesus, I will have much fruit
Verse: Galatians 5:22

This week we learned all about apples, the letter A and the fruit of the spirit.

We read an Apple A Day: from orchard to you and looked up lots of information about apples.

We taste tested several different kinds of apples and then cut them up and discussed 1/2 and 1/4.

Gavin made a fruits and veggies poster and separated them into the two categories.

We read 10 apples up on top and made a picture of Gavin and glued apples numbered 1-10 on top of his head. Gavin had to put them in numerical order.

Gavin painted a picture of a tree and once it dried, he pasted apples on it labeled with the fruits of the spirit.

We read about Johnny Appleseed, which was quite fun! Gavin is still talking about him.

We made apple crisp - yummo!

We took all the seeds out of the apples, counted them, sorted them, did some addition and subtraction with them and then pasted them to a piece of paper in the shape of the letter A.

I made up a pattern page with apples for him to color.

We read A new House and then Gavin illustrated the story and retold it to me.

Unrelated to our theme, we did some math worksheets from mathisfun.com, we are continuing with our reading lessons (we are now on lesson 50 - half way done!), we are following the "reading plan" in our curriculum, as well. We also are still memorizing catechisms, working through our calendar each day and learning to count to by 5's, 10's etc.
